Keep it in Check

checklist-480x270

“Check yourself before you wreck yourself,” as the saying goes. Usually, it means “check your behaviour”, but it’s good advice in general. Keep a careful eye on what you’re doing and what your status is, otherwise you might end up in serious trouble. Nowhere is this more apparent than when you’re driving. You need to check the traffic, check your speed, check the fuel in your tank. Check your mirrors, check your oil in case it needs a change. And of course, you need to check your tyres – are they properly inflated, or do they need pumping up?

It’s important to know, but all too often, you really can’t tell at a glance. If your tyres are flat enough that you can see, it’s probably already too late. And getting down on the ground with a pressure gauge is a bother. That’s why the smart option is to get a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Also known as a TPMS, this handy device checks your tyre pressure so that you don’t have to. It measures the pressure levels inside your tyres, and informs you with an alert in case you need to do something about it. Far more reliable than remembering to manually check your pressure every so often, the tyre pressure monitor is a fully automated system that helps prevent the multitude of dangerous effects of under-inflated tyres, including poorer handling, a heightened risk of blowouts, and increased tyre wear.

In the end, it comes down to safety. Whether you’re in a bank or playing chess, it’s always a good idea to keep things in check. This goes double when driving. So get a pressure monitor to help keep track of your tyres, otherwise you might just lose control of your vehicle – and end up in a flaming wreck.
